You Deserve Great Music
And you’ve come to the right place to find it.
Welcome to Static Attic.
The road goes on forever and the party… changes form.
“Party is neither created nor destroyed, it just changes form. Now who’s doin’ shots?”
-Sir Isaac Newton (probably)
Alright. It’s been a minute. A few even, since I last posted.
I’ve changed jobs a few times, moved, got a new, steady job. All the while, this project has been in the back of my mind, reaching out to me and crying for attention.
There’s a piece of my soul that craves music and for a long time I’ve kept it locked away, saying “it’s not time for you to eat yet.”
So while I decide if I want to record sessions again someday (I mean I want to, but the work is a lot for one guy), I am letting that little sliver of consciousness have snacks, and I’m doing so intentionally.
I am sharing a lot of what I’m listening to on socials, but I am also publicly keeping a log of music I hear and building a database of music I own physical copies of. You can find that below:
So yeah. We’re living in Charleston. The city where I was born, where I thought I’d never return.
And we’re settling in. Riding bikes, eating seafood, going to the beach .🤮
And it’s not so bad after all.
I lived in Greenville for the better part of 20 years… my entire adult life. It shaped me as I watched the city grow.
Doing The Hoodoo Music Podcast and Static Attic gave me a view of the robust music scene that hides under the surface in a place where authenticity can easily be subsumed by aesthetics. Not to speak ill of Greenville, I love the place. It’s not entirely a superficial bourgeois hellscape, it’s also a welcoming waypoint in between less friendly cities (you know which ones), and a gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Most of my best friends are there!
But creating media to showcase the deeper music scene beyond cover bands at bars made me feel at the time like part of something bigger, and its absence has left a crater in my life.
So maybe I’ll fill that crater again. Until whenever whatever, I will continue letting my spirit sample from all the dishes at the party.
What are you listening to this week?

3.3 - Whoami?
Here's the full podcast episode featuring WhoAmI?
Enjoy!
WhoAmI? Who am you? The Oneders?
Drew and Dr. Luvbeats are some of the kindest and most uplifting people I've met, and they make great music.
Sorry this one took so long.
“It’s All Joy” - WhoamI?
Here's a song from WhoAmI?'s episode of Static Attic (which debuts tomorrow). "It's All Joy" is a song of hope!
Finally, another video from the session with WhoAmI? No, that’s not a question. Here it is! The full episode drops tomorrow, so subscribe on Spotify, or Apple Podcasts, or YouTube. Maybe all 3, just to be safe.
Timidly approaching the music pond and poking my toe into the water. or something.
Getting ready to ramp up again, and trying to be smart about it this time...
I have missed being involved in the Upstate SC music scene. I have had several failures to re-launch the beautiful thing the Hoodoo Music Podcast was, but I am carefully examining the possibilities of restarting. I’m trying to build a community of local music fans in Discord and am running a focus group of sorts there.
I am also, as I write this post, staring at an episode I failed to release almost a year ago. I am finishing the edits on it today and will be releasing it before the end of the week. It features the band WhoamI, and I feel terrible that it has taken me so long to get it done.
There are also sessions featuring Sidestep Dog (who just released a new album) and Norion that will be released shortly.
In other news, I have upgraded my mobile recording studio for faster load in and out times and better overall efficiency. I’ve done a few band sessions with Brando Jones Films and these definitely showed me some areas that needed tightening.
I’m not great at writing blogs, but I’m gonna give this a shot.
